This new house was designed for a pair of empty nesters looking to downsize and simplify how they lived. The house’s style was inspired by Scandinavian architecture and ski lodges. The house was carefully sited on a semi-wooded suburban lot in order to preserve as many mature trees as possible. Features of the house include a 20’ tall vaulted living and dining room, large expanses of glass, a custom wood burning fireplace, and a lap pool. The house was featured on the 2020 Parade of Homes, and was awarded 1^st Place in the 2021 Midwest Home Design Awards in the “Contemporary Architecture up to 4,000 sq ft” and “New Model Home” categories.
